THIS is one of Vijayakanth’s movies which projects him as Providence’s gift to mankind. In this masala, he plays Vetrivel, a respected villager who is regarded as a demi-god by the people.
Simran plays Gowri, a city-educated girl who initially mistaken Vetrivel for a labourer. But typical of a true blue masala fare, she falls in love with him upon learning of his true identity. They embark on a relationship but things become complicated when his brother Subramani (Karan) falls for Gowri and plans to marry her. Subramani of course does not know of Vetrivel’s involvement with Gowri.
An in true sacrificial fashion, Vetrivel arranges for their marriage. Something happens and the ungrateful younger brother suspects that both are having an affair. This prompts Vetrivel to move out of the house.
A lot of things happen but the highlight is the three goons (Radharavi, Anandaraj, Ponnambalam) who have been waiting to get Vetrivel for the last 25 years! Lakshmi and Sivakumar play his parents and Vijayakanth does look a tad too puffy and red-eyed in this fare.
